Well, let's see..... I'm of average intelligence on a good day, I've TOTALLY settled in regards to my career, prone to self doubt when it comes to interpersonal relationships.... any of this sound familiar? Those aren't the things that make or break my life though and blogging is about sharing bits and pieces of my life with anyone who might be interested enough to bother reading. (their choice, I'm not making anyone read my drivel).. oh yeah, and sometimes it's about getting something off my mind so that it will stop swirling around keeping me up at night.

Great job, David! Love the new template, and I know you're going to love Disqus. I know you don't consider this a high-traffic blog or anything, but you may want to set up Google Analytics to see where people are coming from, how long they're staying, etc. It's free :)

Yes, this new breed of parody movie really sucks. I feel the same way with the American Pie series. Seriously, do we need this many movies milking the same joke over and over? Someone needs to let Eugene Levy know that it is ok to turn down a script.

You're A OK on the typing "www" thing...especially if you want to get to the correct version of our site/show. ;-)

I'm a bad techie because I still love my Blackberry Storm 1 and plan to get the Storm 3 when it hits.

Well put, David! I think the wall mount is an excellent idea! If only there was a way to do it without interfering with the sleek look the iPad has. I think the main thing Apple left out is a Camera... a front facing and rear facing would be ideal. I can live without the phone call capability if it allowed for tethering with such things as skype.

I still kinda want one, it just looks so sci-fi future and beyond the Jetsons. : )

I'm such a solipsist when it comes to this stuff - I know I'm the lowest common denominator when it comes to things like privacy, but what they've done to everyone else who has more important stuff to protect really isn't right. Thanks for helping me better understand the ramifications.

David - the part that you're missing is why people are so upset. Facebook was the only place where your privacy actually was assured. That's why people left MySpace, and that's why people felt comfortable being *honest*. Because only the people they allowed into their friends list could see anything. My profile used to be completely un-findable. Even if you knew the url, it wouldn come up 404 not found. Now I have NO choice but to expose my name, profile photo, a section of my friends list, and the pages I've "liked".

While you might not have a problem with that, I don't think you're considering the full effect of the changes.

If I go to a website that has associated itself with an application I allowed ages ago, it now has instant access to my entire profile. I don't have to connect to it or allow it anymore. It just has it, because I allowed that app - that I don't even necessarily know is affiliated with this website.

Even if I have my privacy locked down tight - which you know I do - it took me over an hour to block and tweak settings on the "what friends can share about" privacy area - which I didn't even know they had added, and I'm on Facebook 100 times a day because of my job.

FB has made a series of privacy decisions over the past year that have chipped away at what we can control, and they are selling us out to the highest bidder, which was NOT what they promised us when we joined.

And again - you and I are tech savvy. There are millions of people on Facebook who don't have the understanding to even look for privacy controls. FB has done a shit job of communicating the changes to people who aren't on the level that you and I are on. My mother didn't even know you *could* make some things private. Privacy changes should be opt-in, and they have switched to a policy where they are opt-out, and only if you know where to find them.

As locked down as my privacy settings are, ALL of my checkboxes for "what friends can share" were checked when I went to that page. That should have been unchecked by default.

I also can no longer have any interests that aren't linked to "pages" - which is out and out brand-jacking, but besides that - a "page" is someplace where your picture will show up in the "likers" list. I don't want to be formally associated via a *page* - I just wanted it in my profile so old friends could see it. They've taken that away too. I could go on - and probably will in my own blog post.

My thoughts pretty much exactly. I was hoping for more of a scaled down MacBook instead of a larger iPod Touch.

BTW, whenever I go to this site lately, in either IE7 or FF3, I get a Twitter API login prompt. Just an FYI.

Ahhhh - you have introduced Rule #3! Time elapses, and we have to start counting sometime. However - while the baby ages, the calendar does not. Every year we start over again. That period of time from when the baby's born until the 365th day after his birth is referred to as "baby's first year". Then we start new milestones with "baby's second year", etc. Yes, no years have elapsed from the time we started counting, but we had to start with "the first" - which brings us back to Rule #1.

Oh - and Dawn told one of my idols the Frank's Chicken House story last week. :)

We count age based on years elapsed.... when a child is born, we don't say they are starting at 1 year old... we say they are 1 year old at the end of that first year, which is in fact the beginning of their 2nd year... we commemorate at the end, not at the beginning.... Is it impossible to believe that no one thought to HAVE a calendar until the first year had elapsed? Which would have the year marker of 0001 start at the end of the first year, not at the beginning of it.

Just food for thought.
